Sound and Vision Realised again
When John Bowers founded his company in 1966, he dreamed of manufacturing the perfect loudspeaker. We’ve been pursuing his vision ever since, and now, 50 years later, we’ve taken our biggest and boldest leap forward yet in the shape of the 800 D3.
The 800 D3 represents the absolute apex of audio reproduction from Bowers & Wilkins and it's so much more than just a loud speaker. There has been over 50 years of research, development and engineering leading up to this flagship speaker.
The results have produced unmatched levels of clarity and realism.
The 800 D3 is driven by technological innovation. From drive units to cabinet geometry, every major component has been rethought and reinvented. And the rule book for loudspeaker design has been ripped up and rewritten in the process.
The future of loudspeaker technology starts here.
A pioneering legacy now reborn.
Bowers & Wilkins original 801 speaker emerged in 1979. At the time it changed the game of what it was possible in loudspeaker dynamics. In 2016 the 800D3 has reset the standard again with a startling level of performance that is destined to become a new benchmark.
Music begins with the 800 series
Bowers & Wilkins 800 series speakers have long have an integral relationship with music professionals. Whether it's a musician or a sound engineer, 800 series speakers are seen in the worlds best control room studios. Why? Because professionals know that sound in the control room with be a faithful reproduction of the performance in the studio.
The 800 D3 is at the centre of the most ambitious research and development program Bowers & Wilkins has ever undertaken. There are some 868 changes from previous model is replaces. 868 changes. Almost everything is completely new. The 800 D3 is not just an updated model, it has not just evolved. It is revolution at the cutting edge of technology and musical engineering expertise. No exceptions.
Special components, special performance
Diamond Dome Tweeters
Incredibly light, yet unbelievably rigid, Diamond is the ultimate tweeter material. Delivering the most revealing, natural treble you will ever hear.
The Turbine head is the ideal shape for sound dispersion, while its internally ribbed, aluminium construction ensures that it is acoustically inert.
The Continuum cone delivers pristine mid-range performance by effectively negating the break-up behaviour that can adversely effect this all-important part of the spectrum.
The Aerofoil cone’s variable thickness provides added strength where it is needed to maintain its pistonic shape, delivering rock solid bass.
